Arachnida MZS
Musée Zoologique de la Ville de Strasbourg
Description
The collection contains some 4320 specimens, both dry and in fluid. The majority are spiders. The sampling periods are mostly the beginning of the 20th century with the extensive collection of local spiders (Alsace, France) from Emil Nöldner. There is also the significant collection from the south of France and Italy from Alexandre Myèvre (1870 to 1906), who had included in his collection (purchased?) that of swiss spiders from Hermann Lebert, 19th century. A number of specimens were obtained through Arthur Speyer, probably father and son, around 1900; they are from exotic regions or collected locally in Alsace.
The scorpion collection in fluid was revised by Max Vachon in 1977.
