Public descriptionThe 296 specimens originate from all oceans and a number of seas worldwide, essentially from the 19th century, and among them are 3 types. The collection was revised by M. Asako and/or V. Philippot (2012-2019). A number of Japanese specimens were collected by Ludwig Döderlein between 1879 and 1881. Mediterranean species are from Alexandre Myèvre, end of 19th/beginning 20th centuries. Many specimens are from Natural history dealers such as Gustav Schneider in Basel, J.F.G. Umlauff in Hamburg, Hermann Rolle in Berlin and Linnaea in Berlin.
